DAPHTOXKIT F
ACUTE IMMOBILIZATION TEST

DAPHTOXKIT are available in two versions: the DAPHTOXKIT F magna, which makes use of Daphnia magna as test species, and the DAPHTOXKIT pulex based on Daphnia pulex. Both Toxkits provide the materials and the organisms to perform six acute immobilization tests.
The kits contain “dormant” eggs (ephippia) which can be hatched on demand. Neonates of uniform characteristics and ready for use are obtained in 3 to 4 days (contingent on temperature).
The kits make use of unique custom-made multiwell plates as test containers.
Test versions: DAPHTOXKIT magna (left) and DAPHTOXKIT pulex (right).

TECHNICAL DATA

Cost-effective:
  • All costs associated with test organism maintenance or culturing are eliminated (no investments in culturing facilities and equipment, no labor time on weekends and holidays).
  • Laboratory space and equipment requirements are minimal.
  • Shelf-life of the dormant eggs is guaranteed for 6 months.
Validation:
  • The standard test protocol of the DAPHTOXKIT adheres fully to OECD guideline 202 and can be easily adapted to follow other guidelines such as ISO, DIN, US-EPA, ASTM.
  • Sensitivity of the neonates hatched from ephippia is similar to that of newly born daphnids taken from laboratory stock cultures.
  • Repeatability of the DAPHTOXKIT assays is comparable to that of conventional tests with daphnids.
